Picture this: You’re driving down the road and it’s really pouring down rain.  You can barely see more than a few feet in front of you.  Your vision is blurred as the windshield wipers try to clear your view.  Your best guide at the moment is the white lines on the side of the road.

It’s not easy to drive in this situation but little by little your are getting closer to your destination.  Can you see how this can be a metaphor for you accomplishing your dream(s)?  A few days ago I was speaking to a good friend on how I believe there are two types of people in the world in regards to fulfilling dreams: 1.) The person who talks about what they want to do, why they haven’t started, that they will someday do ____, etc. or 2.) The person who has a plan, is actively taking steps towards their goals, doesn’t let obstacles stand in their way, etc.

So now you may be asking yourself, what in the world does driving in the rain have to do with achieving my personal goals and dreams?  Think of your goal/dream as the destination that you are trying to get to.  No matter what your dream is, it’s always fuzzy or blurry in your mind as to how it’s going to become attainable.  Setting small, attainable goals will get your towards your dream a little at a time just like the windshield wipers help make your vision clearer and the white lines on the side of the road guide you towards your destination.

Any forward action towards your goal is better than no action at all.  Which person will you be from now on?  The one who just keeps telling people what you are “going to do” or the one who begins to take action?  Don’t let what you mind hasn’t seen yet hinder your from chasing your dream.  Remember rain is just an obstacle just like whatever you feel may be holding you back.  Just tell the rain to go away and come back another day!
