Picking a Niche

My new site has generated a lot of excitement for myself and I hope for you all as well.  I have been working with Kimberly Bohannon and Ben Cope of GFYDmember, the creators of the Dream Theme that you see being used for this site.  Over the last year I have been trying to build what I hope turns into a full-fledged clothing company.  I have learned many things from a lot of people as well as making mistakes on my own.

One mistake I realized I’ve been making is directly related to my blog.  I do not have a particular niche that I blog about.  I have blogged about J. Benjamin, food and recipes, passions and goals, and many other miscellaneous topics but never on one particular subject.  Picking a particular subject to blog about is important because it will give my readers something to look forward to in something they (you) are interested in.

In the next couple of days I will have narrowed down what J. Benjamin Clothing Co. will blog about most of the time.  I know it will be fashion/clothing related since this is after all a clothing company.  Now here is where I am looking for some participation on your end.  If you’ve ever read any of my posts, please leave a comment as to what you really liked about them.

What was your favorite type of post that I wrote?  What were you most interested  in when I posted? Let me know because if your not particularly interested in fashion, I am considering and most likely will be picking other niche’s that I’m passionate about to build a site around.

Thanks for your help.

John for J. Benjamin Clothing Co.

Usually when I come to your site, I just order what I want then go about my business. I occasionally may take a glance at your tweets but other than that I order my tee and keep it moving.

Thank you Austin and Syd for your feedback.

Syd, my site will soon include my store and blog all on one page. Would fashion related articles or news be of interest to you? Is there anything that you read daily that does interest you?

I’m all about hip-hop. But if we had to look at fashion… I always wanna know whats the latest and greatest as far as being dressed well as a young professional. I’m usually a jeans and tee kinda guy with the occasional button down, but would love info on how to put things together more.

I cant lie sometimes when I want to wear something different, i ‘ll look at a picture of Pharell or someone famous to see what they are wearing. That’s how I got my idea what to wear for New Years two years ago. Purple-ish sweater, collared shirt bow tie, nice crisp jeans and brown shoes. Boom! So, yes something like that would be of interest to me there John

I think you have all of the questions that you’re looking for already John. Your niche is automatically based in a couple of different arenas…Fashion at the forefront, entrepreneurship, building a brand, and overall motivation to follow suit…

I believe the direction I am going to try to take here is exactly what Daymyen said. I think that is pretty much where my passions lie and that will allow me write passionately about things that may interest others.
